The deadly officer involved shooting at the Riverchase Galleria has gone through multiple law enforcement agencies, but now it is in the hands of the Alabama attorney general’s office.
Alabama Attorney General Steve Marshall announcing this morning his office will leading three investigations.
One of which will deal directly with the investigation involving the death of Mr. Brandford, the other team will be involved in the pending case involving Mr. Brown, and the related investigation involving the 12 year old girl.
The Attorney General’s office says they’re taking over the case to prevent conflicts of interest at the local level.
But on the other side of this matter, some are concerned about the different changes of hands in the investigation.
The ACLU Alabama is among several organizations that are calling for transparency across all law enforcement.
As far as body cam footage being released, AG Marshall disagrees.
Marshall says video doesn’t tell the whole story, there are countless witnesses that have been interviewed.
Any updates in this case, we’re told will come from the Attorney General’s office.
