Athens Police are looking for suspects in a pair of thefts and possible shots fired in Athens early Monday morning.

According to information released by the department, at just after 2:00 a.m. Monday morning, Athens Police officers responded to multiple calls of shots fired on Cloverleaf Drive. When officers arrived, a woman who said she was a victim told them that two black males, one  about 5’8″ and one about 6′ tall, both wearing ski masks and dressed in all black, broke a glass and entered her apartment. She said one of them  came into her bedroom, put a gun to her head, and asked her if she sold drugs. She told them she did not and after going through her purse and phone, they left with her TV.

Officers also made contact with a second victim who told officers he had come home from work and found his apartment had been broken into. He was also missing a TV. Officers made contact with a third person who told officers she heard a lot of banging downstairs. When she went to see what was going on, she located a broken glass in the back door.

Around the same time several acquaintances came up and were standing in the parking lot area when a vehicle traveling north on Cloverleaf went by the apartments. The car went up the street, stopped, and nine shots were fired. Currently investigators haven’t located anything that any of the shots hit. They’re not sure if the shots were fired at a person or object or simply up in the air.

A worker at the water treatment plant south of the incident  area called and said shots hit the building; however officers were unable to locate any evidence or damage. The worker also told officers he heard shots going through the wooded area.

The investigation into these cases continues and anyone with information should call the Athens Police Department at 256-233-8700.
