The 59th Session of the Huntsville Police Department is celebrating their graduation today.

Mayor Tommy Battle spoke at the graduation and sworn in the 10 graduates.

It was a touching day for one graduate who is following in his father’s footsteps. Cameron Freeman’s father, Eric Freeman, served with the Huntsville Police Department for three years before he was shot and killed responding to a car accident.

Huntsville Police Department Officer, Kevin Lambert, responded to the call with Officer Freeman in 2007. He says Cameron worked hard to make his father proud.

“When he passed, a little part of all of us died, but having his son here now, it kind of brings that back to fulfillment,” said Officer Lambert.
