A Pennsylvania police department put out a call for volunteers to get drunk for free in the name of education.
The Kutztown Police Department was looking for three volunteers to drink hard liquor to the point of inebriation so officers could be trained on how to administer field sobriety tests during traffic stops. A call for volunteers on Facebook accumulated hundreds of responses and over 1,000 shares in less than a day.
The police department saw such a high response they have since amended their post, saying they’ve had enough applicants and will pick from the current pool.
Applicants were required to follow a few rules to qualify:
1. Be in good health between the ages of 25 and 40 with no history of drug or alcohol abuse
2. Clean criminal history
3. Be willing to drink hard liquor to the point of inebriation
4. Sign a waiver releasing the Borough of Kutztown of any liability
5. Have a sober/responsible party take care and control after the training.
