SAN JOSE, Calif. (WIAT) — It was deja vu for Dabo Swinney on Friday night. For the third time in four years the Clemson head coach walked off a plane, arriving for the College Football Playoff National Championship.

Swinney and the Tigers arrived at 2:30pm local time at the San Jose airport, hoping this meeting will be better than last season.

Alabama beat Clemson 24-7 at the Sugar Bowl in the playoff semifinal last season. The year prior, Clemson won a thriller in the 2017 National Championship on a Deshaun Watson touchdown pass with :01 second remaining, giving the Tigers the championship trophy, 35-31. Alabama won the first meeting in the 2016 National Championship, holding off a late rally, 45-40.

Monday night’s meeting will be the fourth straight season the teams play each other.

Swinney’s first media availability will be at media day Saturday morning. Check out the arrival of the team in the video above.
