W.C. Handy Music Festival

The W.C. Handy Music Festival is a week of events in North Alabama honoring W.C. Handy, a Florence native who’s called “Father of the Blues.” Most events happen around The Shoals in Sheffield, Muscle Shoals, Tuscumbia, and Florence.

Events take place from July 19 to July 28. Some of the highlights include:

Friday July 19
Keystone of Florence jazzfest
2 p.m. to 4 p.m.
Performers- Thompson Trio

Handy Happy Hours: Swampers/Marriott Shoals
5 p.m. to 7 p.m
Performer- Christian Turner

Saturday July 20
35th Annual Mid-Summer Classic Three State Bike Ride
7 a.m.
Cost: $45 dollars or $55 if postmarked July 15
Package Pick-up and Pre-Registration held Friday, July 19th 

Shoals Car and Truck Show
12 p.m. to 2 p.m.
Performers: The Cadillacs

Sunday July 21
Barbecue and Blues with the Beat Daddys
2 p.m. to 5 p.m
Cost: $25 advance ticket or $30 at the door

Monday July 22
Determined: Celebrating the Life of W.C. Handy
8 p.m.
Cost: $10

Tuesday July 23
Songs of the Shoals- the Legacy
7 p.m.
Cost: $20

Wednesday July 24
The Combo Kings in Concert
12 p.m.

Thursday July 25
The Decoys featuring Beyhive Queen Christine Ohlman
7 p.m.

Friday July 26
11th Annual Massively Cool Air-Conditioned Street Festival
6 p.m.
Cost: $15 with BBQ Buffet or $13 General Admission

Saturday July 27
Miki Howard and The Manhattans Featuring Gerald Alston
8 p.m.
Cost: $40 General Admission or $100 for VIP upfront seating and meet and greet access
