Rebecca Petit joined the WZDX team as a Multimedia Journalist in April, 2017.
She’s a native of Miami, Fla. Rebecca earned a Master’s degree in Broadcast and Digital Journalism from Syracuse University’s S.I. Newhouse School of Public Communications. She has a B.A. from Howard University, where she graduated Magna Cum Laude.
While earning her degrees, Rebecca interned at several news stations in Miami, Los Angeles and Washington, D.C. Her most memorable experience was working as a Multimedia Journalist in the nation’s capitol. It afforded her the opportunity to cover important legislation and interview both Senators and Congressmen on Capitol Hill.
Rebecca started her broadcast career as a News Producer at KDBC in El Paso, Texas. While there, she helped launch the station’s very first weekend newscasts.
She is very passionate about the mission of local television news—to tell the stories of local communities and to give a voice to the people who live in them.
When she’s not out telling your stories, she can be found hiking and exploring the outdoors, traveling and spending time with her family and Yorkie Chase.
