HUNTSVILLE, Ala. — We're about to rap up the first week of July in the Tennessee Valley and I thought it would be a fun idea to check out the climatology for the month of July.

Our high temperatures around July 1 typically run around the 90 degree mark but this year, our high temperature on July 1 was only 82 degrees! We rebounded rather quickly here though. The high temperature yesterday was 93 degrees. I have a feeling that this July will run rather warm temperature wise but we'll have to wait and see!

As for precipitation, our monthly precipitation totals usually come in right at 4.05 inches, As of July 5, Huntsville has seen 0.73" and Muscle Shoals has seen 0.88". We'll of course have increasing rain totals but it looks like we'll see what we typically do for the month of July.

For all you daylight lovers, unfortunately our sunset times will come earlier by the time we reach July 31, coming in right around 7:49 PM. That's an earlier 14 minutes in our sunset times.

I'm excited to see how July 2020 turns out in the Tennessee Valley but we still have a little while to get to July 31!
