High Pressure Forecast

High Pressure will control our forecast through the next several days.

HUNTSVILLE, Ala. — A beautiful Saturday afternoon across the Tennessee Valley with temperatures climbing into the low and mid-80s across North Alabama and Southern Middle Tennessee. It was a bit breezy at times, but that'll actually come in handy tonight and early Sunday morning.

This morning some of us woke up to a bit of patchy dense fog. With a light breeze sticking around tonight that will not be a problem heading out for Sunday services in the morning. Actually you'll notice it'll be quite pleasant Sunday morning. We'll start the day in the mid and upper 50s. A few degrees below average as far as an average low is concerned in late May.

Sunday afternoon will be beautiful with plenty of sunshine and temperatures in the low 80s. It'll definitely be one of those days to go enjoy the pool. Just please remember to practice social distancing even at the pool.

A perfect weekend could only be capped off with some grilling. Once we hit the evening temperatures will fall into the mid-70s making for excellent grilling weather.

High Pressure Pattern

An area of high pressure currently positioned over the mid-west will play a huge role in our forecast through the rather immediate future. Tomorrow it keeps our winds northerly. This keeps dry air in the Tennessee Valley and keeps our dew points low. Dew points will only be in the mid-50s. That's incredibly comfortable for late May.

This same area of high pressure will move east on Monday. This allows our winds to become a little more easterly. That will not play much into our dew points or temperatures.

The real change comes on Tuesday. On Tuesday that same area of high pressure will move into the Atlantic off the coast of the Carolina's. At that point our winds will be much more southerly. This will drive in more moisture and warmer air.

Tuesday our temperatures will be pushing the 90 degree mark. Most will fall short on Tuesday, but everyone hits the 90 degree mark on Wednesday. From Wednesday and beyond the 90s look like they will stick around.

June 1st is on Monday. with us not seeing a 90 degree day until Wednesday, we will see our latest first 90+ degree day in Huntsville since June of 2003.

From here the above-average warmth looks like it'll stick around. The CPC is forecasting a 50% - 60% chance of above average temperatures through early June.
