Feeling More Like April

After a chilly afternoon, we're getting another chilly night before warmer air moves in.

HUNTSVILLE, Ala. — It's officially April! While I am a sucker for a good April fool's joke, I think it's probably best to hold off on that for the time being. Many of us managed to dip down into the upper 30s this morning with Fort Payne dropping into the lower 30s. They saw a low of 34 degrees.

The sunshine was nice, but it didn't really help us warm to those expected April highs. We only finished the day in the upper 50s and lower 60s.

The good news here is that I am talking about a bit of a pattern change that will usher in some warmer air. An area of high pressure is setting up to our south associated with an upper-level ridge. That ridge and high will very slowly move east over the next couple of days. As it does our winds will become more southerly and our temperatures will begin to climb.

We'll notice this right away tomorrow as many will make it to the mid and upper 60s, but we'll really notice this on Friday when we're back in the 70s.

Of course with winds from the south comes an increase in moisture. Expect clouds to gradually increase in coverage especially through late Friday. This will also come with increased opportunities for rain, but those are only isolated through the weekend.
