HUNTSVILLE, Ala. — After an evening of severe weather and some clouds this morning, we're finally beginning to see some improvement as far as the forecast is concerned. First and probably most important, we stayed dry this afternoon and it looks like we'll stay dry again Thursday and again on Friday.
This is thanks to a pattern change. An upper-level ridge is currently sitting to our west. This helps us warm on Thursday, but we do not reach our full potential until Friday. Once we hit Friday the ridge axis should be more over the Tennessee Valley. This will also bring in more moisture and I anticipate an increase in cloud cover through the later part of Friday.
This pattern changes somewhat during the weekend as a cold front approaches the Tennessee Valley. This will bring the opportunity for showers and thunderstorms ahead of the cold front that moves through during the evening Saturday.
In the meantime enjoy the 80-degree heat that Thursday and Friday will bring!
