The University of North Alabama softball team was selected as the No. 7 seed for the NCAA South 2 Regional and will open play against No. 2 seed and host Saint Leo at Noon (EST) Thursday on the SLU campus. The three-day, double-elimination tournament will also feature No. 3 UAH and No. 6 Lee.

UNA is in the NCAA Tournament for the fifth consecutive season and sixth time in program history. The Lions are 30-18 on the year.

“I am very excited for our players and our program to be making another regional this year,” said UNA head coach Ashley Cozart. “We were not ready to be done yet after our last game. It is exciting to be furthering our season by playing against some great teams.”

UAH and Lee will play at 2:30 p.m. (EST). The two winners will face off Friday at noon (EST), followed by elimination games at 2:30 and 5 p.m. The championship game is slated for noon on Saturday with an ‘if necessary’ to immediately follow if needed.

The SR2 tournament will play the winner of the South 1 Regional the following weekend in the 2017 South Super Regional for the right to advance to the 2017 NCAA Division II Women’s College World Series in Salem, Va. The SR1 bracket will feature top-seed and host West Florida, No. 8 Claflin, No. 4 Mississippi College and No. 5 Valdosta State.

Ticket prices for adults will be $8 per session or $20 for a tournament pass. Senior citizens will be $5 per session or $15 for a tourney pass. Prices for fans 12 and under, as well as any person with a military I.D. will get in for $4 per session or $10 for the tournament.
