Trash Pandas fighting for a spot in MiLB Playoffs

Jonah Karp talks to Jonah Karp who spoke to some Trash Pandas about their place in the standings.

MADISON, Ala. — The 2021 minor league baseball format looks different than in past years. Only the top two teams in each league make the postseason. The Trash Pandas are keeping tabs on their place in the standings.

"As the season's gone on it's been kind of an everyday thing where we talk about it," said infielder David MacKinnon. "We gotta do this we're gonna be here we might as well win. It's a lot more fun to play baseball when you're actually winning. We'll send a text like hey we lost yesterday but we still gained half a game."

"This year the playoffs are different where it's the top two teams in the whole league," said infielder Mitch Nay. "So we're keeping an eye on the other division as well as ours just to see where we're at. At the end of the day when the lights come on we just got to go play our game and then afterwards we'll check on that kind of stuff."

The Trash Pandas sit 2.5 games back of both Montgomery and Birmingham for the final playoff spot.
