ITTA BENA, Miss — It looks like Alabama A&M will not play one more game before the SWAC Spring 2021 Football Championship Game. Wednesday morning, Mississippi Valley State announced that Saturday's game against the Bulldogs would be canceled.

According to the MVSU Athletic Department, the reason for the cancellation was Covid related. The actions follow the guidelines and protocols set by the league and its COVID-19 Advisory Committee.

This is the 6th time during the 2021 spring football season that an opponent of Alabama A&M has postponed or canceled a game due to Covid-19. The original Alabama A&M - Mississippi Valley State game was scheduled to be played on March 6th, but was moved to April 24th due to positive covid tests within the MVSU program.

Prior to Wednesday's cancellation, the WZDX Sports Team spoke to Coach Connell Maynor (AAMU) & Vincent Dancy (MVSU) about the game on Saturday:

Alabama A&M will now prepare for the 2021 SWAC Spring Football Championship against Arkansas-Pine Bluff on May 1st. The location of the game is still TBD.
