Connell Maynor named one of the MEAC's all-time greatest football players

Recently, Alabama A&M head football coach Connell Maynor was honored by the MEAC for his days as a player at North Carolina A&T.

NORFOLK, Va. — Alabama A&M football coach Connell Maynor was selected as one of the MEAC's 50 greatest football players of all-time. Maynor was named First-Team All-MEAC in both 1990 and 1991. In addition, Maynor was named the MEAC Offensive Player of the Year and was honored as the 100% Wrong Club Player of the Year in both 1990 and 1991 en route to leading the Aggies to the 1991 MEAC championship.

As the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) continues to celebrate its 50th anniversary during the 2020-21 academic year, the conference announced Wednesday its all-time football team, comprised of 50 outstanding student-athletes throughout the conference’s history.

Nearly 2,500 votes were cast for the all-time football team, with fans, media representatives, institution sports information contacts and others taking part.

To be considered on the ballot, players must have been named to one of the following: First Team All-MEAC, MEAC Offensive Player of the Year, Defensive Player of the Year, Rookie of the Year, Offensive Lineman of the Year or be a MEAC, Black College Football or College Football Hall of Fame inductee.
