In the tiny town of Odessa, Delaware, in an old ambulance garage, you’ll find one of the most unusual, and generous, programs for U.S. military veterans.
Sam Cannan, a former Baltimore police officer who was injured on the job, fell into watchmaking. Now, he’s opened the Veterans Watchmaker Initiative to teach this art to veterans, especially disabled ones.
WATCH:
The full course takes up to sixteen months, roughly 2,300 hours of instruction. And, the cost to the veterans? Nothing.
VWI is a 5O1c three charitable organization. If you’re a veteran who’d like to explore their program, or if you’d like to make a donation, check out their website veteranswatchmakerinitiative.org.
