UPDATE: Escaped inmate from Tuscumbia arrested in Morgan County

Tuscumbia Police and Colbert County Sheriff's deputies are searching for the last of two jail escapees who remain at large Wednesday morning.

UPDATE: 9:12a.m.- On May 10, 2018, at approximately 8:39 p.m., Officer Craig and Officer Edmondson were dispatched to attempt to locate an escapee from the Tuscumbia City Jail, Justin Tyler Whitman, who was possibly hiding at an address on the 300-block of West Moulton Street.  

Upon arrival, Whitman was seen attempting to flee the area on foot and was taken into custody. During the course of the investigation, Whitman gave a false name to attempt to conceal his identity.  

While attempting to identify Whitman, a quantity of methamphetamine (ICE) and a quantity of marijuana were found in Whitman’s possession.

Whitman was placed under arrest for the unlawful possession of a controlled substance, obstructing justice by giving a false name to a law enforcement officer, and possession of marijuana in the second degree. 

Thomas is being held at the Morgan County Jail in lieu of a $2,000.00 bond and will later be extradited to Colbert County to face charges.

UPDATE: 05/11 – Jason Whitman, who absconded from Tuscumbia police has been arrested in Morgan County.

Morgan County authorties booked Whitman into the Morgan County  Jail on charges of Obstructing Justice Using a False Identity.

Brandon Hale, the second individual who fled from police was captured shortly after he fled.
