Madison County Schools announced the top five candidates for superintendent tonight.

Anthony J. Buckner, Greg B. Dejarnette, Tim Guinn, Allen Perkins, and Edward Lee Willis are all on the list. This comes after previous superintendent, Matt Massey, resigned in order to run the new Cyber Technology School in Huntsville.

Interim Superintendent Dr. Mark Minskey is not on list. He chose to not apply.

The Alabama Association of School Boards vetted the superintendent applications and chose the top five. Starting next week, the school board will hold public interviews for each of these candidates.

Madison County Schools Spokesperson, Tim Hall, said, “It is possible, following all of the candidate interviews, that the board could come to a consensus early in October and say we know the individual we want to serve as the next superintendent of Madison County.”

Three interviews will be held next Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday, and the other two will be the following week on Monday and Tuesday. The candidates will receive interview questions beforehand. The interviews are open to the public. Each interview is expected to last 90 minutes to two hours.
