Today’s the 8th Annual Community Seed Swap, an event where you can pick up new seeds, share your own, or just go to learn more about saving seeds.

The event starts tonight at 6 p.m., at the Church of the Nativity in downtown Huntsville. This year they are also featuring ‘seed stories’ where you can tell about a special seed you have been working on.

They will ask for a donation at the door, but no one will be turned away from entering. All proceeds go directly to the Sand Mountain Seed Bank, which has been cultivating and sharing seed varieties that have grown in the area for over a hundred years.

Representatives from the Sand Mountain Seed Bank will also be there to help teach about heirloom seeds and seed saving techniques.

This event is hosted by the Tennessee Valley Community Garden Association, in partnership with The Greene Street Market at Nativity, Food Bank of North Alabama, and the Alabama Sustainable Agriculture Network (ASAN).
