A time capsule that a man buried 25 years ago just got rediscovered in downtown Athens.
The capsule was unearthed when construction was being done on the sidewalk outside of Roy Patton’s family furniture store.
Patton buried the capsule, which contained some money and notes about family history, in November of 1994. Thursday, Roy and his father buried two more capsules. They contain pictures and business cards from nearby stores and city hall.
The mayor’s office even included a bicentennial coin.
