Scottsboro Police net two in Burglary and chase

Scottsboro Police arrest two for burglary following a high speed chase

Scottsboro Police responded to a Burglary of a business in the 18000 block of Hwy 35 on January 16th where they found the front door broken out. 

Officers reviewed security video and were able to see a male and female committing the crime of burglary and theft.

A short time after conducting their investigation of the burglary on Hwy 35 officers received another burglary in progress call of a business  in the 10000 block of Hwy 72 in Woodville, AL. Officers were responding to that call when they turned around on a vehicle heading from that direction.  The vehicle drove off at a high rate of speed which then started the pursuit.

 Marshall County Sheriff’s Office and the Guntersville Police Department joined the pursuit as the suspects turned off Hwy 79 onto S/B Hwy 431. The Guntersville Police Department took the lead as the pursuit entered their city. Officers were able to get the suspects stopped and both occupants were arrested.

Billy Kyle Martin w/m/24 of Montevallo, AL was charged with Burglary 3rd, Theft 2nd, Attempting to Elude a Police Officer, and Reckless Endangerment. Patrica Gail Smith w/f/29 of Jemison, AL was charged with Burglary 3rd, Theft 2nd, and Illegal Possession of Prescription Drugs.

Both subjects are being held in the Jackson County Jail (no bond has been set). Additional charges to follow.
