With talk of potential foreign cyber attacks, it’s important to know that you can take a few simple steps to protect yourself at home.

Everyone likes to keep it short and simple when it comes to their password– but it might be time to switch it up.

A local cyber security company tells us to never use the same password for everything, and make each one unique by switching certain symbols or adding a number at the end. You can defend yourself against hackers by blocking suspicious accounts on social media and deleting unknown emails.

Cyber Security engineers say it can save you in the long run.

David Oberle is a Cyber Security expert at H2L Solutions in Huntsville. Oberly says, “The longer the password– the better. Even it it’s just a bunch of random words, it’s more secure than using alpha-numeric, special characters and everything else.”

Weak passwords could lead hackers to break into anything from your in-home cameras to your social media accounts.
