AL Boys State GOP, Democratic gubernatorial debates streaming live Tuesday and Wednesday

TUSCALOOSA, Ala. (WIAT) — Alabama Boys State is hosting two debates in the week leading up to Alabama’s 2018 Primary Election, and you can watch them live right here.

The GOP gubernatorial candidates debate is set for Tuesday, May 29, 2018 at 7 p.m. At publication time, Gov. Kay Ivey has not accepted the organization’s invitation to participate. GOP candidates Huntsville mayor Tommy Battle, Sen. Bill Hightower and evangelist Scott Dawson have accepted.

The Democratic gubernatorial candidates debate is set for Wednesday, May 30, 2018 at 7 p.m. Democratic candidates Tuscaloosa mayor Walt Maddox, former Alabama Chief Justice Sue Bell Cobb, former state rep. James Fields and Chris Countryman confirmed their attendance,

Both debates will be held at the Morgan Hall Auditorium on the University of Alabama campus.

WIAT CBS 42 in Birmingham is the television partner for the Boys State debates, and will livestream the debates across CBS42.com, WKRG.com (WKRG News 5 Mobile), WRBL.com (WRBL News 3 Columbus, Ga.), RocketCityNow.com (WZDX Huntsville), and DothanFirst.com (WDHN Dothan).

The debate moderator is CBS 42’s Art Franklin. Our Montgomery Capitol Bureau Reporter Reshad Hudson will serve as a panelist.

The debates will also be streamed on Facebook Live on each station’s page. Be sure to like their pages and turn on notifications for when they go live.
