Police still searching for Point Mallard Water Park shooting suspect

Decatur Police have released the identity of the suspect in the Point Mallard shooting.

UPDATE 2:45 p.m. – Decatur Police have released the identity of the suspect in the Point Mallard shooting. 

The suspect, Caleb D’Vante Long, also known as Caleb Langford, 18, is 5’10 and 140 lbs. Police say that he has two warrants for second degree assault.

Update (6/2/19 7:30 a.m.) – Two people were shot and injured at Point Mallard Water Park Saturday evening during an event at the park.

The shooting occurred at approximately 9:08 p.m. Saturday, June 1, near the wave pool, according to Decatur Police. The water park’s “Splash into Summer” was taking place at this time.

Both victims suffered non-life threatening injuries and were reportedly seeking medical treatment. Police later reported that a suspect had been identified and law enforcement was working to locate them.

The investigation is still ongoing; updates will be made as information becomes available.

Decatur Police are actively investigating a shooting at Point Mallard Water Park. 

According to Decatur Police, at approximately 9:08 p.m. Saturday, June 1, two people were shot at the Point Mallard Water Park near the wave pool. The victims sustained non-life threatening injuries and are seeking medical treatment. 

Police say the shooting is believed to be an isolated incident between acquaintances and that there is no risk to public safety. 

A suspect has been identified and police are working to locate them at this time.
