Hundreds of people came out to the U.S. Space & Rocketcenter for the Pass the Torch panel: Apollo 11 – America’s First landing on theMoon event.

The panelists talked about the roles they played in puttingman on the moon. Ed Buckbee was among the panelists. Buckbee is a former NASA PublicAffairs Officer and U.S. Space & Rocket Center Director. He says one of hisfavorite memories is seeing the ground testing of the Redstone Rocket for thefirst time.

“I had never experienced a rocket close up, and I wasstanding just a few feet away from the Redstone engine, and I saw that and Irealized that we in Huntsville, Alabama, we’re rocket people,” said Buckbee.

Doctor Margrit Von Braun also spoke at the event. She talkedabout her childhood, the moon landing, and the philanthropic work she’s doingtoday.
