UPDATE: One dead after a wreck in Limestone County

A man is dead following a wreck Sunday afternoon in east Limestone County.

UPDATE 8:24 p.m.: The Limestone County Coroner has released the name of an Athens man killed Sunday afternoon in a single-vehicle wreck.

Darrell Eugene Meadows, 64, was killed when he reportedly lost control of his vehicle and ran into a utility pole. Meadows was taken to Athens Limestone Hospital but was pronounced dead upon arrival.

The wreck happened just after 1:30 p.m. on Highway 72, east of Mooresville Road.

One is dead following a wreck Sunday afternoon in east Limestone County. It happened on Highway 72, east of Mooresville Road, just after 1:30PM, according to Limestone County Coroner Mike West.

West says it appears that the driver lost control of the vehicle and ran into a utility pole. The driver was taken to Athens Limestone Hospital and pronounced dead upon arrival. The driver’s name will be released once the family has been reached.
