Dancing, a drum circle, and spreading the word about resources were all part of a Martin Luther King, Jr. Day celebration in Huntsville.

It was put on by the nonprofit at Zenzele Consignment that supports development projects in Africa and African American communities. They celebrated MLK’s life and spread the word about their youth program, community garden, and black mental health group.

“He was about doing the work that would make humanity free and there’s a lot of work still in that regard,” said Aisha Fields, director of the All African People’s Development and Empowerment Project. “There’s a lot of work still to be done in our community and today’s just a perfect day for every individual who wants to see this community better honor MLK through doing that.”

The AAPDEP also gave out awards to people who’ve worked to better the community.
