The inside of Huntsville International Airport just became a bit more colorful.
Today, the Airport Artway was unveiled there Wednesday morning, featuring a variety of works by local artists. Located on the second floor of the terminal building, the art wall is the result of a partnership between Huntsville International Airport and Carnegie Visual Arts Center. The idea is to show off the diversity and creativity in our community.
“These are wonderful artists. They are very diverse,” said Kim Mitchell, Executive Director at Carnegie Visual Arts Center. “There’s not a real theme to this exhibit other than showcasing all the talent that is here.”
There is also a community art wall at the airport, which will feature art from budding artists in the North Alabama community. It’s also located on the second floor of the terminal building. The collection currently on display is called “Therapy Through Art”. It was created through a partnership between Carnegie Visual Arts and the Mental Health Center of North Alabama. Folks are invited to view the art at the airport, free of charge. New art will be set out quarterly.
