When Jeremy Dewayne Floyd was indicted on identity theft charges, Decatur Police didn’t have to go very far to find him.
In February, a Decatur resident filed a report about identity theft with Decatur police, alleging that their identity was used to obtain internet services and that several bank accounts were opened in their name.
Floyd was determined to be the primary suspect in the case and the Morgan County Grand Jury indicted Floyd on November 5. He was arrested in the Morgan County Jail, where he was being held for probation violation on unrelated charges.
His bond in the identity theft case is $20,000.
The Decatur Police Department reminds the public that the defendant should be considered innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
