Mayor Paul Finley addressed locals in the crowded Davidson Center at the U.S. Space & Rocket Center for the 2020 Madison State of the City Address. He says, “There was no question when we started this event that we could say the state of our city was strong and getting stronger.”
Mayor Finley adds, “Guys think of the population that we had, and Madison’s astronomical growth.”
2019 was a year of growth for the city, with an increase in the population by about 7,000 people in just 2 years.
Mayor Finley also highlighted a salary increase for the 4th time in 5 years, and increase in the city’s bank account by 2 million dollars.
While going over the numbers, Mayor Finley has an important reminder for everyone, not just in the city of Madison– but across the state. He urges, “Those are census numbers. And I think I’d be remiss if I didn’t talk about the importance of the census. It’s critical for Madison. It’s critical for Madison County. It’s critical for the state of Alabama. We cannot afford to lose a congressional seat.”
Mayor Fenly went on to talk about his hopes for Madison’s future. And the future’s looking bright.
The new Huntsville-Madison county 9-1-1 center is expected to be complete in March. The new 16 million dollar facility should be ready will be able to hold more agencies than the old building.
Mazda-Toyota is coming to the region with a landmark automotive manufacturing facility and 4,000 new jobs! And Madison is ready to receive them.
The Rocket City Trash Pandas throw out their first pitch in the brand new Toyota Field on opening day – April 15th. Locals are excited about the new Margaritaville hotel. It’s expected to break ground in Town Madison by this year.
The Madison County community is an economic driver for the North Alabama Region. So, locals left happy with plenty to look forward to.
