The Madison Police Department has started an internal review of the shooting death of Dana Fletcher.
The department says it will review the case to decide whether the officers, including the two who shot and killed 39-year-old Fletcher outside Planet Fitness last month, acted in accordance with policy and training.
Last week, District Attorney Rob Broussard determined that the officers were legally justified in killing Fletcher, who authorities say was armed and pointed a gun toward police.
The five officers remain on leave, and authorities haven’t released their names.
