The Madison County Board of Education has announced its pick for its new Madison County Schools superintendent.

Mr. Allen Perkins will take the lead of the district at the beginning of November. Perkins is currently the Director of Equity and Innovation at Madison County Schools. He’s been with the district since 2002 as a teacher, assistant principal, middle school principal, and the Supervisor of Instruction. He says, “I am humbled and excited to be selected as the Superintendent of Madison County Schools. It is a privilege I do not take lightly. Madison County is a district with great students, teachers, schools, and communities. I look forward to the challenges ahead and will work tirelessly to serve Madison County Schools.”

Mr. Perkins will fill the remaining term of Matt Massey, who resigned earlier this year to become President of the Alabama School for Engineering and Cyber Technology.

Board of Education President Dave Weis said Mr. Allen Perkins “carries a true passion for the students. He’s familiar with the students, he’s familiar with the schools, and he wants to see Madison County Schools succeed, and we felt that having one of our own do that was important.”
