A Madison County road project just received a more than $9 million grant from the Federal Government.
The U.S. Department of Transportation (USDOT) awarded $9.28M Thursday for the five-lane widening improvement of Blake Bottom Road from Jeff Road to Research Park Boulevard. This is the largest award of grant funding in the history of Madison County.
Blake Bottom Road is a heavily-traveled major east-west connector corridor leading to Research Park Boulevard that carries approximately 11,000 vehicles daily to Cummings Research Park and Redstone Arsenal.
These funds were awarded through the FY19 Better Utilizing Investments to Leverage Development (BUILD) Grant as a result of the Consolidated Appropriations Act in which $900M was appropriated for National Infrastructure Investments. BUILD grants are awarded on a competitive basis for projects with significant local and regional impact.
