HUNTSVILLE, Ala. — Concerned that you may have COVID-19, even if you have no COVID symptoms? There's a new way to get tested.

Huntsville Hospital Health System (HH Health System) and Kailos Genetics, a HudsonAlpha Resident Associate Company, are offering COVID-19 testing by appointment to people in the Huntsville area through the Kailos AssureTM Peace of Mind Program.

Kailos says the program is designed for non-symptomatic people who want to know if they are carrying the COVID-19 virus. The sample collection is performed by simply swishing and gargling with a small amount of saline, avoiding the discomfort of a nasal swab. The testing can be used to satisfy back-to-school requirements or offer peace of mind if you think you might have been exposed.

The charge is $55. Insurance, including Medicare/Medicaid will not be accepted, but the HH Health System will accept major credit or debit cards as payment.

HH Health System will communicate the results directly to individuals. Kailos will process the tests utilizing its proprietary testing platform which has been compared to the gold standard RT-PCR tests and was determined to have similar results: high sensitivity to detect SARS-CoV-2, with low false positives and low false negatives.

To schedule an appointment, please contact the Huntsville Hospital Laboratory at (256) 265-2522 and choose option 2. To learn more about the testing, go to https://www.kailosgenetics.com/.

If you have symptoms of COVID-1, you should be screened and tested by Huntsville Hospital’s Fever & Flu Clinic at 120 Governors Drive. The Kailos Genetics testing is designed for people without symptoms.

Kailos has submitted information to the U.S. Food and Drug Administration requesting an Emergency Use Authorization (EUA). During this time, Kailos is authorized to provide testing.
