Victims of New Market shooting identified

A juvenile has been charged with two counts of murder and one count of attempted murder after a shooting in New Market.

NEW MARKET, Ala. — The Madison County Sheriff's Office has identified the victims of a shooting Thursday night in New Market as Ann Ferrel, age 64, and Charlie Walker, age 31.

The Sheriff's Office released the following statement:

Madison County Sheriff’s Office Deputies responded to a home in the 100 block of Rose Valley Drive in New Market Friday following a 911 call of a shooting at approximately 12:20 pm. 

Sheriff’s investigators have arrested and charged a juvenile with two counts of murder and one count of attempted murder due to the shooting that occurred yesterday at the residence on Rose Valley Drive. The juvenile fled the scene in one of the victim's cars. Deputies observed him in the area and attempted to stop him, but he refused. He was pursued a short distance until deputies could get him stopped. The juvenile and the victims involved were all related. The juvenile was transported to the Neaves Davis Center for Children. 

The victims were identified as Ann Ferrel, 64 years of age, and Charlie Walker, 31 years of age. The investigation is ongoing, and no other details are available at this time.

Sheriff Turner said, “We are deeply saddened for the families of these victims, family members, and our community during this time. Our heartfelt sympathies go out to each and every person affected by this incident. Our thoughts and prayers go out to the family as well as our Deputies and other first responders who had to investigate this horrible incident”.
