Valley residents speak up about what's happening in Cuba

Cuban-Americans demonstrated at Big Spring Park this evening to show their solidarity with protestors in Cuba.

HUNTSVILLE, Ala. — People of the Tennessee Valley are using their platforms to speak up about what's happening in Cuba.

Cuban-Americans from our community demonstrated at Big Spring Park to show their solidarity with Cuba. Protesters held signs and flags with words like "Liberty" and "Freedom for Cuba". Kids and adults of all ages were happy to participate.

An organizer of the demonstration says, "We take our freedom of speech for granted when just 90 miles away [from the U.S.] people are being tortured for speaking about freedom."

Protester Karlene Nazario says, "They want liberty, they want what we have, and they're not being heard. Everybody is having different stories and the main objective is freedom."
