Huntsville churches team up to give away fruits and vegetables

Nearly 500 boxes of fruits and vegetables were given away to families in the Valley.

HUNTSVILLE, Ala. — Two local churches have teamed up to make sure families in the Valley have fresh fruits and veggies in their fridge.

First Seventh-Day Adventist Church held their second fruit and vegetable giveaway Drive Thru. The church partnered with Huntsville Central Seventh Day Adventist Church.

Boxes include cabbage, collards, and sweet potatoes. Leaders say they gave away nearly 500 boxes of fruit and veggies.

"Every-time they open that refrigerator door they feel the love, and that somebody cared about them. Because they know the stuff that we give them is expensive, but at the same time we gave it to them for free and we're not asking for anything back," says Food Giveaway Organizer, Artis Sidney.

Madison County EMA also donated masks to the church to give away to families.
