Alabama Medical Cannabis License Application evaluators wanted

USA is looking for professionals to review, evaluate and score applications for medical cannabis business licenses in Alabama.

MOBILE, Ala. — Alabama is accepting applications for Medical Marijuana licenses, and the University of South Alabama is looking for professionals to review, evaluate and score applications for medical cannabis business licenses in Alabama.

The Alabama Medical Cannabis Commission has partnered with USA to coordinate the review, evaluation, and scoring of the following sections of applications in each license category:

  • Financial Ability
  • Business/Management Approach
  • Operations Plans & Procedures
  • Facility Suitability & Infrastructure
  • Security Plan
  • Personnel
  • Quality Control & Testing
  • Marketing & Advertising

Each license category has its own application and fees. The license categories are:

  • Dispensary
  • Integrated Facility
  • Cultivator
  • Processor
  • Secure Transporter
  • State Testing Laboratory
  • The Alabama Medical Cannabis Commission released application guides for each category.

Applicants for evaluation positions must have experience and expertise in one of the license categories. Evaluators will be compensated. According to USA, there will be 

  • A separate panel for each license category consisting of a lead panelist and two evaluators
  • The panel lead will be responsible for organizing and coordinating the work of Evaluators assigned to the panel, facilitating communication between the Evaluators and USA, and presenting relevant Evaluator comments and scoring data to Alabama Medical Cannabis Commission. 
  • All Evaluators will be responsible for reviewing their designated section for all applications assigned to the panel.

Evaluator applicants must commit to one online training session in the first quarter of 2023. Evaluators will receive applications to evaluate on or about April 14, 2023, and have approximately 40 days to complete the assigned application evaluation. All review, evaluation, and scoring information is due to the University of South Alabama no later than May 26, 2023. 

USA will give preference to potential panel leads who have experience in coordinating a review, evaluation, and scoring similar processes or have experience in the medical cannabis industry. Applicants will be required to sign a confidential disclosure agreement and conflict of interest form.
