Toyota gives United Way thousands of face shields: How you can give on 'Day of Action'

Toyota donated about 2,000 face shields to United Way of Madison County, and they say those masks will go a long way. Will you give for this year's "Day of Action"?

HUNTSVILLE, Ala. —

Toyota Motors North America donated 2,200 face shields to United Way of Madison County, and they say those masks will go a long way.

Representatives from United Way, and the agencies they support, got together in the building parking lot to pass out the shields and give a quick thank you to Toyota. And, of course, everyone was staying 6 feet apart.

Local non-profits will be able to put the shields to use while they continue to support the community during the pandemic.

Toyota's Kim Ogle was surprised by United Way staff and given The 2019 'Give Award'.

Kim Ogle says while accepting the award, "During the COVID crises we were looking at 'What are those needs? And how can we help?' and so they were one of the first calls we made to see how we can collectively help the community."

June 30th, United Way will be having their "2020 Day of Action."

People can drop off items and donations to any of the United Way agencies during a socially distant, drive-by event.
