FORT PAYNE, Ala. — DeKalb County EMA said a rescue was underway around 5:00 PM on Memorial Day.

They say a 21-year-old Georgia woman went over the falls and was able to get herself to one of the rocks in the pool. The woman was recovered from the falls, evaluated by DeKalb Ambulance Service, and taken by Air Evac Lifeteam to an area hospital.

This is the third search and rescue operation at the canyon in the last week.

On Sunday, a 23-year-old man drowned and last Tuesday a 19-year-old man drowned.

Both of those situations happened near Little Falls - also known as the Hippie Hole area - and were described as situations where people had been swimming, went underwater, and never resurfaced.

Both bodies have been recovered and they were both from out of state.
