HUNTSVILLE, Ala. — Alabama leaders are calling for businesses to get their employees counted for the census tomorrow.

It's 'Drop Everything and Get Counted'. This encourages business owners, CEO's, and upper management to provide opportunities for all employees to set time aside to participate in the census if they haven't done so.

Leaders say Alabama is just over 60 percent, and that in 2010 Alabama's participation was 62%.

They say it's important for all of us to do this.

"For the people who are fortunate enough to have jobs, they often look to their employers for guidance on things that are important. And so, if the employers are reinforcing this message that it's important for their employees to complete the census then they have a greater chance of increasing the number of people that participate," says Senior VP of Government Public Affairs, HSV-Madison County Chamber of Commerce, Mike Ward.

The census count will end September 30th.

If you haven't participated you can do so online, by phone, or by mail. Click here for more details
