Small Business Saturday has made its way to Athens, Alabama

First, there's Black Friday, then there's Cyber Monday but in between those two days of shopping lies Small Business Saturday.

HUNTSVILLE, Ala. — First, there's Black Friday, then there's Cyber Monday but in between those two days of shopping lies Small Business Saturday and Small Business Saturday has made its way to Athens-Limestone County.

The county chamber and Athens Main Street came together to get the word out that these holiday deals will be available at local places of business as well and not just at larger chain businesses. 

There was also an emphasis on supporting those small businesses because in the long run, it helps support the community overall.

RELATED: 75% of consumers have indicated that they plan to shop online this year. That's up about 15% from last year.

"We wanna invite everybody to come in and shop local. We've got tons of other shops, you can come here [Bennett's Clothing] and shop, you can go around the square and enjoy a wonderful experience of shopping local. So please, kick this season off with loving local and shopping local!"

So, yes, you may find good deals at those big, chain stores but great deals are also to be found at local, smaller businesses in your own neighborhood.
