Redstone Federal Credit Union pledges $2 million to Boys and Girls Clubs

The Boys and Girls Clubs of North Alabama are expanding!

HUNTSVILLE, Alabama — Boys and Girls Clubs of North Alabama are about to expand to help more local kids.

Redstone Federal Credit Union pledged $2 million dollars to the Boys and Girls Clubs of North Alabama to help with the ‘Doors to the Future campaign’. That's the largest single gift ever awarded to the organization and it will be paid over the course of five years.

The 'Doors to the Future' campaign is a $7 million project being done to expand the Boys and Girls Clubs. The pledge from Redstone will go towards transportation, scholarships and expansion projects. This donation gives the club solid footing to begin the campaign, which aims to "create generational change, while also expanding [the] organization's ability to address critical needs in the community [they] serve."

Patrick Wynn, President and CPO of Boys & Girls Clubs, said, “The future is bright here in the Huntsville area. We want to make sure that the Boys & Girls Clubs continue to keep pace with the needs of our youth and make sure their futures are equally as bright.”

According to BGCNA, they serve about 5,000 kids annually. The added help from the campaign will make room for nearly 950 young adults.

“We see this investment as another way to improve the futures of youth and
families who live in the areas that we serve,” said Joe Newberry, President and CEO of Redstone.

This generous donation will change the lives of many kids in the North Alabama community.

“So many success stories have come out of the Boys & Girls Clubs and this gift will create opportunities for even more,” Newberry said. “The organization continues to be a catalyst for positive change in the community, which is also one of our guiding principles.”
