Redstone Arsenal says no damage or injuries from chemical spill

The spill happened Wednesday morning on Martin Road.

HUNTSVILLE, Ala. — Martin Road was shut down temporarily and some Redstone workers were told to shelter in place after a chemical spill on Redstone Arsenal Wednesday morning. 

Redstone leaders say the minor chemical spill happened in a lab environment in building 4500 near Martin Road. 

There are no injuries and no damage reported.

The Redstone Arsenal Fire Department secured the scene. They say that appropriate precautions are being taken in the immediate area to ensure the safety of the workers.

The Fire Department reopened Martin Road to normal traffic, and lifted the shelter in place for employees.
