HUNTSVILLE, Ala. — Hungry? More than 100 restaurants are part of Huntsville's Black Restaurant Week, June 11-20, 2021.

Whether you like Caribbean, BBQ, sweets, soul food, or some entertainment with your meal, there's something for you. On the road? Check out one of the 15 featured food trucks. Throwing a party? 21 different caterers are on the list. Vegan? There are restaurants for you, too.

GrubSouth is partnering with Black Restaurant Week in Huntsville to offer free standard delivery for participating Black-owned restaurant partners. Just use the code brwhsv at checkout.

WZDX went to The Veggie, a vegan restaurant located at Lowe Mill, to find out about the event.

J'Que Ellis, a customer at The Veggie, said, "It's important for me to support business period. I am a business owner, but for me it's personal when I support black-owned businesses because I'm also an African-American, and when we support one another, we all grow."

Adyre Mason, owner of The Veggie, says, "Black Restaurant Week is so important because if you look across the restaurant industry, black-owned restaurants, and specifically black-owned woman restaurants, still disproportionately receive [less] funding and support, and so I think events like this help highlight so many businesses that maybe people didn't even know about, highlight specials and special services that perhaps the community didn't know about that they can take advantage of."

Black Restaurant Week in Huntsville has more going on than just restaurants. There's a Bar Crawl, themed nights and special menus, a Food Truck and Grill Fest with live music, and a Bingo card with a special gift. Show your support on social media by posting your experience and tagging #BRWHSV.

The COVID-19 pandemic did not stop Black Restaurant Week in Huntsville in 2020, but there were many fewer participants. This year, not only has the list of eateries expanded, but the events around it have as well. Soulfest Alabama, celebrating Juneteenth, is part of the event in 2021.
