Marshall County stabbing, murder suspect in custody, sheriff's office says

A suspect accused of stabbing and murdering a man in the Asbury community of Marshall County is in custody at the Marshall County Jail.

MARSHALL COUNTY, Ala. — UPDATE: A suspect accused of stabbing and murdering a man in the Asbury community of Marshall County is in custody at the Marshall County Jail.

ORIGINAL STORY:

The Marshall County Sheriff's Office is looking for a suspect in connection to a stabbing in the Asbury community of Marshall County on April 2.

The sheriff's office said deputies responded to a call on April 2 regarding a man bleeding and crawling along the roadside of Martling Road near Jupiter Circle. 

Upon arrival, deputies found the victim, who has since been identified as Johnathan Wade Bryant. Officials said Bryant was deceased when he was found.

MCSO said a fight had taken place between Bryant and the suspect, who has been identified as Ronny Lee Peppers, Jr. The sheriff's office said the fight resulted in Peppers stabbing Bryant.

The cause of death was determined to be a stab wound to the upper leg.
