Madison County Sheriff's Investigator Steve Finley remembered

Steve Finley was a 30-year veteran of the department. He passed away on January 14, 2022 from complications of COVID.

MADISON COUNTY, ALABAMA, Ala. — UPDATE:

Veteran Madison County Sheriff's Investigator Steve Finley has been laid to rest.

Finley passed away on January 14 of complications from COVID. Before the funeral, Madison County Sheriff Kevin Turner had this to say about him:

"He is worthy of this today, he is- he is worthy of us stepping up and celebrating what he's done. Not from Madison County Sheriff's Office but what he's done for Madison County and the City of Huntsville and the citizens that live in it.

"There was never a hiccup with him, anything you put in front of him, he always went out and did his best and solved the case and I'll tell you, I'm going to miss him. I know everybody standing behind me is going to miss him as a command staff. You know, the department has lost you know, we've lost an investigator and we've lost an officer but most importantly, I think we've as a group and us as the entity has lost one of the best friends we've had.

"He is a great person and you know we want to step up today and celebrate Steve Finley and celebrate his life and to let his family know that even though Steve Finley the person may be, you know moved on to greener pastures, if you will. We as a department, us as the sheriff's officers are still gonna be here for them as a family."
