Madison County Schools needs more substitute teachers

The district said some schools are in critical need of more substitutes.

HUNTSVILLE, Alabama — Madison County Schools is beginning a campaign to attract new substitute teachers.

The district said some schools are in critical need of more substitutes. For those worried about COVID-19, MCSS Spokesman Tim Hall said the district is working hard to protect the staff.

"Dealing with COVID-19 will it be safe to go into a classroom. We want to assure people who might be interested in being substitute teachers that our schools our classrooms are cleaned and they are sanitized," said Hall. "We are going out of our way to make sure our environment is as safe as it could possibly be."

The hours are flexible and there are opportunities to work steady hours. To qualify as a substitute teacher, you just need to have your high school diploma or GED, be 18-years-old or older and pass a background check.
