Lt. Gen. Ed Daly takes over as Commanding General of AMC

General Gus Perna relinquished command to Lieutenant General Ed Daly during an Army Materiel Command change of command ceremony.

HUNTSVILLE, Ala — The Army Materiel Command held a change of command ceremony on Thursday.

General Gus Perna relinquished command to Lieutenant General Ed Daly. Daly is now a four-star general and the 20th commanding general of AMC.

Daly served as AMC's deputy commanding general, and will now oversee operations of the Army Materiel Command. General Perna will now focus on co-leading Operation Warp Speed, to find a vaccine for COVID-19 by January 2021.

AMC Chief of Staff, Major General Bob Harter, said, "It's his mission to kind of run the logistics, as the doctors develop vaccines and therapeutics and our nations companies work on that to make sure we have a distribution platform in place, and so he was simultaneously commanding, continuing to command, Army Material Command."

AMC is one of the Army's largest commands with over 190,000 employees.
