HUNTSVILLE, Ala. — Greater Huntsville Humane Society (GHHS) is helping you keep track of your pets with a microchip-a-thon sponsored by Michelson Found Animals at Community Day on July 17.
"July is national lost pet prevention month so the chip-a-thon is supporting Michelson Found Homes and the support they've given us," Public relations specialist for GHHS, Rochelle Sexton said.
If you missed Community Day, you can still get your pet microchipped by making an appointment with GHHS.
The humane society was excited to see how many pets showed up to the event. Any pet owner that was running low on food could grab more at a free food pantry called King's Community Kitchen.
Bernie Mallory, a local pet owner, is thrilled about the extra help and hopes to see more events like this in the future.
"So, we take advantage of the benefits of having a food bank available," Mallory said.
Rocket City mobile vet was onsite checking the health of animals. Anyone who was interested in meeting new pets could come out and have fun with a variety of stations and activities.
